Okay, so I just watched YouTube shed 43 subscribers from my channel right before my eyes.

Sorry to hear that. I will check regularly. Keep up the good work. By the way, your video entitled "Is SCOTUS Trump's Secret Weapon?" may be the best I've seen on the issue. It was succinct and clear, yet thorough and very well researched. You inform and instruct at the same time. Great job!

I know depression is afflicting even more people due to COVID-19 isolation, not to mention the many veterans struggling with PTSD. It is a very sad state of affairs in our country. Too much war and too much personal isolation for others. But even those who are in relatively good situations can be afflicted with this terrible scourge. Thanks for drawing attention to this important issue. For what it's worth, I once wrote a series of articles on this issue from a Christian point of view, as a pastor and also as someone who has struggled with depression in the past. https://reformedbaptistblog.com/2014/06/23/toward-a-biblical-perspective-on-depression-index-of-posts/ By the way, I moved my blog from Blogger to Wordpress a few years ago, but many links still refer back to the old version of the blog. The articles linked to, however, are all the correct ones.

How many "Christian leaders" have you come across arrogating the title "apostle" to themselves?
KeithThroop comments on Nov 22, 2020:
I am in agreement with your point. There are no more Apostles after those who initially served as a foundation for the church, and Rev. 21:14 certainly does denote a special place for the original twelve (no doubt assuming the twelfth is Matthias rather than Judas Iscariot). However, I would observe that the Bible clearly identifies other such Apostles as well, the Apostle Paul being most notable among them. Wayne Grudem, after making it clear that "there are no more apostles today, and we are to expect no more", offers the following brief explanation for your consideration: > **Were Apostles?** The initial group of apostles numbered twelve—the eleven original disciples who remained after Judas died, plus Matthias, who replaced Judas: “And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias; and he was enrolled with the eleven apostles” (Acts 1:26). So important was this original group of twelve apostles, the “charter members” of the office of apostle, that we read that their names are inscribed on the foundations of the heavenly city, the New Jerusalem: “And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb” (Rev. 21:14). > > We might at first think that such a group could never be expanded, that no one could be added to it. But then Paul clearly claims that he, also, is an apostle. And Acts 14:14 calls both Barnabas and Paul apostles: “when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it....” So with Paul and Barnabas there are fourteen “apostles of Jesus Christ.” > > Then James the brother of Jesus (who was not one of the twelve original disciples) seems to be called an apostle in Galatians 1:19: Paul tells how, when he went to Jerusalem, “I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord’s brother.” Then in Galatians 2:9 James is classified with Peter and John as “pillars” of the Jerusalem church. And in Acts 15:13-21, James, along with Peter, exercises a significant leadership function in the Jerusalem Council, a function which would be appropriate to the office of apostle. Furthermore, when Paul is listing the resurrection appearances of Jesus he once again readily classifies James with the apostles: > > Then he appeared to James then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. For I am the least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. (1 Cor. 15:7-9) > > Finally, the fact that James could write the New Testament epistle which bears his name would also be entirely consistent with his having the authority which belonged to the office of apostle, the authority to write words which were the words of God. All these considerations combine to indicate that ...
How to Spot the Danger Signs of "Progressive" Christianity in Your Church Consider the once -...
KeithThroop comments on Nov 22, 2020:
Alysa identifies these five signs that a church is becoming "progressive": 1. There is a lowered view of the Bible. 2. Feelings are emphasized over facts. 3. Essential Christian doctrines are open for re-interpretation. 4. Historic terms are redefined. 5. The heart of the Gospel message shifts from sin and redemption to social justice. She is right.

Are you saying, however, that *you* have accepted the truth? Are you claiming that the position you are espousing here is *the truth*? I should note that I'm not trying to imply that I disagree with your perspective. As a Christian, I believe you have described the attitude of fallen human beings quite accurately. This is why we believe it takes a miraculous work of God in a person's heart to enable him/her to accept the truth, especially to believe in Jesus who said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6 NKJ). You may or not accept Christian beliefs as true, of course, but we at least agree to some extent on the condition of sinful human beings. 😉

Unless you believe that one text had to do with His spirit and the other had to do with His body, assuming the Biblical teaching of man as made up of both body and spirit, with the spirit departing the body at death and being reunited to it in the resurrection. Then there is also the Biblical teaching that Jesus was both fully God and fully man and that, as God, He could have been in both places at the same time. At any rate, it seems to me that your reasoning doesn't really take into account all the facts to be considered.

ONE of the most popular beliefs of the day is that God loves everybody, and the very fact that it is...
KeithThroop comments on Nov 18, 2020:
I think it would be better to say that God loves unbelievers *in a different manner* than He loves believers. If you are interested in what I mean, I would offer the following article I once wrote on John 3:16: https://reformedbaptistblog.com/2015/04/01/gods-great-and-gracious-love-john-316-part-1-teaching-outline/ Here is a portion of that article: > But, someone may ask, “If the word *world* in this verse is to be taken in a restricted sense, as referring only to the elect, then must we conclude that God does not love everyone in the world? Must we say that God loves only believers?” My answer to this question is, “No, we should not conclude that God does not love everyone in the world.” In fact, I think there are other passages that teach us that God does love even unbelievers. Consider, for example, Jesus’ teaching in the sermon on the Mount: > > NKJ Matthew 5:43-45 You have heard that it was said, “You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.” 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. > > In other words, if we want to be like our heavenly Father, we will love our enemies as He loves his enemies and thus causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the just and the unjust. There is, then, a real sense in which God loves even the non-elect who never believe in Him. But He does not love them as He loves believers. There is a special sense in which God loves the elect who believe in Christ. And it is when this special, electing love is in view that the Bible speaks of God’s hatred for sinners, such as when God said, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated” (Rom. 9:13, citing Mal. 1:2b-3a). > > Now, all you have to do to see that God showed His love to Esau is to look back at the accounts in the Old Testament to see how greatly God blessed him (e.g. Gen. 33:9; 36:6-8 ff; Deut. 2:5; Josh. 24:4). However, none of these blessings included Esau’s having been chosen for salvation. In fact, the author of Hebrews uses Esau as an example of an irremediable apostate and warns professing Christians not to fall into the same trap into which he fell: > > NKJ Hebrews 12:14-17 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: 15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled; 16 lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. 17 For ...

As a Christian I believe that God created men and women as He did for the purposes of experiencing marital love and procreation and to manifest His glory in these ways. Just because I've manged to avoid committing one sin while I've struggled with plenty of others is no reason for pride, as though I'm something special or somehow better than others in some way. In fact, I see such pride itself as sinful, just as I see "gay pride" as sinful. If I have managed to avoid some sins, then I don't take any credit for it. I thank God for His grace to me and pray for more grace to overcome other sins that I have struggled with for so long, *pride* being chief among them.

I would refer to Chris Cuome as a self-aggrandizing, hypocritical narcissist, but that would probably be going way to hard on other self-aggrandizing, hypocritical narcissists.
Unity = we're in charge again and now YOU have, MUST, support us. Or else....
KeithThroop comments on Nov 12, 2020:
Right. *Unity* means agreeing with them or at least pretending to and shutting up about anything they say or do.

As I posted here in Words of Wisdom on Oct. 29, I often tell young people that, although these are not the only marks of a good education, I consider the following to be two indispensable marks of a good education: 1. One discovers just how little one really knows. 2. One learns how to find out what one doesn't know. One learns how to learn. Anyone who has not gained these two things hasn't gotten a very good education at all. Anyway, over the years I've come to think these are pretty wise words, even if I do say so myself.
I am so glad Trump has found a vaccine for Covid. Maybe we will soon be able to get back to normal.
KeithThroop comments on Nov 12, 2020:
I sure hope so.
Biden claims 'mandate' while election vs. Trump remains undecided [foxnews.com]
KeithThroop comments on Nov 12, 2020:
Of course he declares a mandate, because he knows that the MSM will help him sell just about any preposterous lie that he states. It won't change the fact that at least half of the country (and probably significantly more than that) know better.
BLM co-founder sends message to Biden: 'We want something for our vote' [foxnews.com]
KeithThroop comments on Nov 12, 2020:
I'm sure they want a *lot* for their vote, as well as plenty of votes that were *not* theirs, I'm assuming.
Burisma Holdings admits in Ukraine court today that JOE Biden was paid a bribe of $900,000.

The Biden / Harris 'Victory' Brutally Summed Up by a Single Cartoon [thefederalistpapers.org]
KeithThroop comments on Nov 11, 2020:
Shouldn't the wagon also say "Harris -- President elect." That is, perhaps, the real cart before the horse. LOL
Dear Father, nothing is hidden from You.

I participated in a Veterans Day ceremony today in Bloomington, Illinois, USA. As a veteran and a member of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, I participate every year. As a pastor they typically ask me to offer a prayer. Here was the prayer for today: > Almighty God, we give you thanks for our nation, the United States of America. Continue to shape us into a people who work for liberty and justice for all people. > > We give you thanks for all who have served bravely in our military, many of whom have suffered from physical, mental, and emotional scars that will last for the rest of their lives. We pray that you will grant them healing and peace. > > We also ask you to help us to honor them not only on this day and in our time together now, but on every day, so that their service on our behalf may not be forgotten and so that their courage and devotion may continue to serve as an example to us all. > > We ask this in the name of the Lord of all. Amen Thanks you to all our veterans. :)

Amen to that!
Lecture 55, Oh, How I Love Thy Law! (Psalm 119:97): This Lecture is from the Teaching Series ...
KeithThroop comments on Nov 11, 2020:
He was right to say that we are saved by Jesus' keeping of the law, but there is absolutely no sense in which Jesus Himself was saved by keeping the law. Jesus did not need to be saved, since He was not born a sinner, nor did He ever sin Himself. After that remark I stopped listening. Maybe I will listen when I have some more time.
