Living here in the United States in what I have come to call "The Peoples' Republic of Illinois," due to its ever increasing Leftist government and policies, I took part in a widely announced and heavily attended "Open Illinois" protest in our state capital back in late May, when we were still in pretty heavy lockdown. Virtually no one at the protest wore masks or practiced social distancing, while the police stood off to the side and watched. No one was arrested or received any sort of citation so far as I know, and this was in one of our most liberal states. There was never a COVID-19 case linked to the protest, by the way. At any rate, just when I though we had in bad here in Illinois, I see this video and count my blessings. I have prayed for this poor woman and her family.

That article made me think back on my own search for meaning and purpose in life. For me it came with my conversion to Christianity at 20 years old. I have since found my purpose in seeking the glory of God in all that I do, seeking to live in a way that honors Him as my Creator and Savior. I have discovered in my study of the Bible that my purpose is to glorify God and that this is also what is ultimately the best for me. His glory and my good are not two separate ends, but, in His gracious plan, they are really one end. They are inextricably linked, so that, whatever brings Him the most glory is also the very best thing for me in the end, and whatever is the best for me in the end is also what brings Him the most glory. When I keep this in mind, I find that I lead a happy life and may find meaning and joy even in life's trials and tribulations. Note: I should add the important caveat that what is good or best for me is defined by Him and not be me.

I do not believe that the Bible teaches against what we would call "mixed-race" marriages. In fact, the Bible teaches that all humanity comes from two people, Adam and Eve, which means that, despite the differences in people that have developed since that time, we are all really just one race, the human race. I don't see how anyone who takes the Bible seriously could deny this fact. There are some, however, who misapply the Old Testament prohibitions placed on Israel against marrying people from other nations. But the context of those prohibitions indicates that they were due to religious and cultural issues rather that racial issues. These prohibitions were designed to maintain religious purity and to avoid adopting the idolatry and cultural practices of the surrounding nations. This is why Israelites were actually allowed to marry people from these other nations if they first converted to Judaism. A prime example of this would have been Ruth. She was Moabite woman who converted to Judaism and who married Boaz, an Israelite man. In fact, both King David and Jesus were descended from her, and she is presented in the Bible as one of the greatest examples of faith in God in her day.

Oh, so it's a riot when they go after the Democrat dominated city hall, but not when they destroy police stations, businesses, or homes.
