coalburned comments on Jun 23, 2020:
It's your job, so you have a responsibility to perform it, but these are unique circumstances. Before going back in, I would have to know how many other officers will be on duty around the clock and the specific conditions under which I could use deadly force. I'd have to know the city had my back, and in Seattle that's a tough sell. If I didn't feel I could properly defend myself and protect others, I'd have no choice but to resign. But saying no or shirking my duties while still being paid? Uh-uh.
Yamiche Alcindor tries to gotcha Kayleigh McEnany on statues, gets schooled- [redstate.com]
coalburned comments on Jun 23, 2020:
Statues represent historical figures and events, but my question is, do we learn our history from statues or from books and other educational avenues? Those who tear down statues aren't erasing history. They're committing acts of vandalism. They love the drama and get swept away by emotion, but to what end? It doesn't change history. Statues are erected because they represent something. If it represents something a particular group doesnt like, and thus deserves to be torn down, then all statues should be fair game. Should we excuse this whole mess as angry people doing what angry people do? I thought we were more civilized than that. If people want to remove a statue, go through the petition process. You'll gain a lot more respect that way.

coalburned comments on Jun 23, 2020:
I have news for Shaun....Jesus wasn't black, either. Let's be honest here. Jesus has almost always been portrayed, usually incorrectly, according to the racial preference of the artist. It has nothing to do with white supremacy, black pride, or any such nonsense. Y'all need to get over yourselves.

Prominent researchers say a widely cited study on wearing masks is badly flawed- [reason.]
coalburned comments on Jun 23, 2020:
I only wear a mask when required to conduct business. I see very few health pros wear them in public. My hunch is that people who wear masks are also more conscientious about washing their hands and taking sensible precautions, and that's the real reason numbers have declined. If they really have....I'm not convinced they were anywhere near what has been reported to begin with.
I am trying to figure out why so many get stuck in the Republican/Democrat rut.
coalburned comments on Jun 24, 2020:
I agree there are many who have Libertarian leanings, but there are degrees of it, and I don't see many, including myself, who are libertarians in the purest sense of the word. Add to that the fact that our political system is deeply entrenched in a three-party system, which makes it virtually impossible for a third party to win. It's an unfortunate fact of life for those who might very well be in the majority. Probably the best chance we would have is to overhaul the Republican party and rename it.

CNSNews: Tucker Carlson describes BLM as the armed militia of the Democratic party.
coalburned comments on Jun 26, 2020:
I hope people wake up soon and realize what's going on. BLM, Antifa, most of MSM, Open Society Foundation....the list is long. All want to fundamentally change our way of life. Those who think that's an ok thing will be appalled when they realized the freedoms they've lost if it comes to pass. Free speech alone has never been attacked like it is now. What comes next? Be careful what you ask for, folks. Be even more careful about what you allow others to take from you.

[youtu.be] Who Is Funding Black Lives Matter And Why?
coalburned comments on Jun 28, 2020:
I think this one succinctly hits the nail on the head. BLM has little to do with improving black lives and much to do with promoting far left ideology. Blacks are once again being exploited, and I say that because the BLM statement of beliefs says nothing about what actually plagues black communities...broken homes, fatherless families, and little emphasis on education. It reads more like a feminist/lgbtq manifesto.

VDH: The 2020 elections aren't about Trump anymore. They're about anger [foxnews.com]
coalburned comments on Jun 29, 2020:
There is so much truth in that article, to the point it's almost depressing. We're approaching my favorite holiday of the year. I love my country, but this year is the first time I've wondered if we haven't gone over the edge, headed toward a future none of us really wants. I've never before felt that we are giving up precious freedoms we've fought hard to protect, and might not find them again if we lose them. I'm a child of the 60s, so I know what it's like to go through social upheaval. But this feels different. People are uglier and less tolerant than ever, as evidenced by the cancel culture and political correctness. Our online communities have their place, but if we don't get out and literally reconnect with others, I fear we'll lose the sense that we have more that unites us than divides us. We have to stop letting evil forces (I don't know what else to call them) drive a wedge between us.

I like that. The best estimate I can find is 6% of us are far right. I'm going to guess that there are 4x as many of us on the far left. That means 70% of us fall into the relatively wise category. Folks, that gives us a huge advantage if we'll just stop letting the media, politicians, and activists divide us. Doesn't mean there won't be differences and debates, but we have more similarities than we realize, especially when it comes to the everyday challenges we all face. I bet if we unplugged as much as possible from media sources (including social media), and had real discussions with real people, we'd see real change.

[cms.frontpagemag.com] Debunking white privilege.
coalburned comments on Jul 9, 2020:
Probably the best video I've seen on this topic. Thanks for posting. Brandon's closing comment is worth further consideration....the fallacy of white privilege is being used to divide this country. It's not the only strategy being employed, however. I hope and pray people in both sides of the issues wake up and realize we're being messed with. I don't know who started it, and I know there are lots of theories out there, but it's been going on for a while. Someone wants us divided so they can usher in sweeping changes that will eliminate most of the liberties we enjoy today. If that happens, ethnicity won't mean squat, will it?

Virtual signaling. Sounds so much more innocuous than moral smugness, doesn't it? To those who think it's the path forward I would argue it's the path to social retardation. I read something yesterday about the way attempts at peer pressure never really end. What you describe here is a perfect example, and in the extreme, it's socio-psychological bullying. Our gut response should be to simply reject what we know is wrong, yet for some reason we think we'll somehow win over the other side by being decent and compliant. Talk about wrongthink... We have many systems that enable racism. But racism isn't confined to one particular group of people. Far from it. And, as those close to me can tell you, I'm following the mandate begrudgingly. I feel like we're being played and misled, but at the same time we're talking about a virus I can't afford to bring into my home. Nice job of presenting both sides.

I find it ironic that so many progressives are infatuated with Sweden, yet those same people aren't following Sweden's example when it comes to handling the coronavirus. I've said it all along....protect the vulnerable with a passion, practice common sense hygiene, live your life.
