Giving teens the right to vote is another devious ploy by Democrats- [thefederalist.
coalburned comments on Apr 5, 2019:
There's no question the proposal to lower the voting age is all about grabbing votes. Dems know full well young people are driven more by emotion than rational thought, are susceptible to messaging from media sites that is overwhelmingly liberal, and have a tendency to follow what they perceive to be the popular trends. Does anyone really believe this proposal would have seen the light of day if teens tended to embrace conservative ideals?
(John 6:29 KJV) Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him ...
coalburned comments on Apr 3, 2019:
Works are meaningless in terms of their ability to save you, but so is simple mental assent that Jesus is Lord, died for our sins, and rose from the dead thus proving his divinity. Any lazy, carnal person can believe Jesus is who he said he is. But if your faith in him doesn't produce a change in your relationship to sin, what good is your faith? Christ didn't die for our sins so we could keep in sinning.

Whenever I watch one of Ben's videos I find myself wondering how his mind works. It's like his brain is wired to run 100x faster than the rest of us poor schmucks, and contains 10x the knowledge. He's definitely gifted. Thank God there's no one like him on the Left.
Do you see the propagation of young earth creationism as the only biblical view of creation as ...
coalburned comments on Mar 28, 2019:
I have no problem with the idea of a young earth, but I don't think it's the only view that should be put forward. I'm open to the possibility that Genesis 1 was designed to be an account that could be easily passed down from generation to generation verbally, and as such is only concerned with what God did and not how long it took him. The problem I have with the old-earth accounts I've read is that I haven't seen one yet that seriously considers the ramifications of a catastrophic global flood. So that leaves me on the fence, which is fine by me because I find origins debates to be divisive. I'm more concerned with where we're all going than how long we've been around.
The Electoral College still makes sense because we're not a democracy- [thefederalist.com]
coalburned comments on Mar 27, 2019:
The EC has always made sense given the size and diversity of our country. I think it's telling that talk of abolishing the EC really ramped up after Trump's win. Does anyone believe that we'd be having this discussion if Trump had won the popular vote, but Hillary was sitting in the oval office?
Should 16 year olds be allowed to vote?
coalburned comments on Mar 27, 2019:
That's a definite NO. I think everyone understands why lowering the voting age is bad idea. I think most people also see this proposal for what it is...a blatant attempt by the left to harvest more votes.

Just watched this. Outstanding speech.
I believe this smart young woman could be the first black female president.....amazing woman
coalburned comments on Mar 27, 2019:
I thought the same about Condoleeza Rice. Both women are incredibly smart....smart enough to know where they can serve best. Who knows what lies ahead, but I think it's important for Candace to continue making a cultural impact, and show that skin color doesn't dictate politics.

Since I was a teenager, some 40 years ago, I've believed the Democratic party has been on a mission to control the African American vote in this country. I don't understand why this is so hard for people to figure out. It's all about votes, folks.
Perhaps the reason why we should have few possessions is because they give the illusion that we ...
coalburned comments on Mar 27, 2019:
I think there's a lot of truth in that. I also believe that our broken human nature makes us prone to pursuing possessions, which of course is idolatry. I've always been fascinated by the spiritual richness of poor people. There's a lesson to be learned there.
What is your view of the Gospel restoration movement as contrasted to the "prosperity Gospel"?
coalburned comments on Mar 27, 2019:
I'll be honest. I thought the prosperity gospel had been debunked. Apparently not. The gospel isn't about health and wealth. It's about sin and salvation. I guess there will never be a shortage of con men who know how to take advantage of people's emotions

How necessary do you think a college education is? Should we push more kids towards trades?
coalburned comments on Mar 25, 2019:
It depends on the field. For many science-related jobs, it's a big deal. What I can't stand, though, is what seems to be the popular view that kids are second rate if they don't have a degree. What a crock. I worked 30 years for a large company that, since the late 80s, wouldn't consider hiring you without a degree. What I learned is that, for the vast majority of positions, a degree was meaningless. A degree tells me (assuming you applied yourself and got good grades) that you stuck it out for 4 years, and more importantly, you know how to learn. BUT...the same can be said of someone with 2 years of trade school or military experience, AND that person will most likely have an applicable skill that can be put to use immediately. I'm a huge believer in learning a skilled trade because you never know what life is going to throw at you, and it's always good to have a skill you can fall back on. Let's face it, the world will ALWAYS need plumbers, electricians, HVAC techs, welders, auto mechanics, etc.
So I have a statement to make, and I want to get people’s thoughtful comments.
coalburned comments on Mar 25, 2019:
I agree that there are many questionable actions surrounding this entire sham. I tried to find a link to Lindsey Graham's press conference, but couldn't find the one that nets out his concerns about possible illegal activities by the FBI and others. He seems determined to launch an investigation and get some answers. This should never have happened, and we need to make sure it never happens again.

On my way to work this morning I was thinking about how much more civilized things felt before these 3 were elected. As divided as we were, these 3 have taken us to a whole new level of insanity. And perhaps most insane is the fact that the media is obsessed with them.
Reparations for slavery

Absolutely not. Hasn't the Democratic party done enough to keep blacks dependent on them? Just like immigration policy, health care, and lowering the voting age....it's all about votes.

coalburned comments on Mar 21, 2019:
I'll not crazy about some of the opinions held by certain FOX contributors (ok, some of them drive me up the wall), but I applaud FOX for giving them a voice and presenting contrasting viewpoints. I wouldn't want FOX to be the conservative equivalent of MSNBC/CNN/NBC.
