How the El Paso Killer Echoed the Incendiary Words of Conservative Media Stars | The New York Times
RobBlair comments on Aug 12, 2019:
AOC called ICE detention facilities "exactly like concentration camps." This language was mimicked by the armed Antifa terrorist who attacked an ICE facility way way way back in July. Trump calls the 10s of thousands of aliens crossing the border illegally, an invasion. This language was mimicked by the armed White Supremacist terrorist who went on a murder binge in El Paso. Here are the differences that I noticed: - AOC and cronies refuse to condemn the Antifa attack, but have no problems declaring Trump "directly responsible" for El Paso.Trump condemned both terrorist incidences - "Today's shooting in ElPaso, Texas, was not only tragic, it was an act of cowardice. I know that I stand with everyone in this Country to condemn today's hateful act. There are no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people," - Conservative media reported on both incidents. Leftist media is reporting the El Paso incident. - The El Paso killer has also echoed the words of the The New York Times, a former newspaper

The Descent Into Cruelty | Current Affairs
RobBlair comments on Aug 9, 2019:
Important stories that we need to hear. I've stated it several times that this country can't afford to have an underclass hiding in the shadows. Our immigration system must be corrected. People who are here illegally need to leave. Seems cruel but why? Is their country so much worse than ours? Then that is also a call to action. Encouraging people to break the law here is wrong and hurts those who do follow the law. Not OK. As for the homeless, yes we have a problem. Letting them destroy downtown neighborhoods is not the answer. People need homes. Letting them fester in squalor is not good for them or anyone. As for criminals, yes put them in jail. They have failed the social contract. Not having laws or corrections will put us into anarchy where only power matters. There are charities and programs for the homeless that need you. When my son gets older I'm hoping to get back into "Good Works" (repair/renovate urban houses). There are programs for going into central american countries to help, try one (it was very rewarding for me). My church has a prison ministry. If you care, go talk to these lost people. You've made the call, now answer it.

A case of willful ignorance. IQ and IQ testing has been around for more than 100 years. There is a clear correlation between IQ and "success." The fact that people still want to believe in this equality of outcome perspective leads me to believe that people are incorrectly tying value and self worth to intelligence. In a system where power is the highest value, then a higher intelligence would increase a person's value. This is anathema to the base of Western Culture which requires that individuals be held equally valuable under the law and under our Creator. Only then can we appreciate instead of covet the gifts that we all bring into our communities.

Great conversation with economist and professor Richard Wolff on China and Socialism
RobBlair comments on Aug 7, 2019:
"People with the most money get the scarce material." An economist should recognize that the people who provide the scarce material then get the money which then means they become people with money. In socialism, the government gets the scarce material and the people with the scarce material get whatever the government wants to give them "Run them for the benefit of everybody" sure because everybody are the only ones who are still alive. "The first thing the [soviet leadership] did was to distribute land to the peasants" - no, the first thing they did was steal the land from the owners. Same thing with the Chinese. In both cases killing 10s of millions. Yes, the Chinese, as with the soviets, recognized that central control over markets caused Bernie's bread lines (for the benefit of everybody). "The Chinese have been pretty careful about taking their pollution problem seriously" - nope. Compare the Post Office to UPS and FedEx - fantastic! Then he follows it up with railroads - hilarious! Can Christianity Survive Its Cathedrals? - Religious Socialism
RobBlair comments on Aug 6, 2019:
"Now I understand the Reformation" my brother stated as we walked into St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Under the immense vaulted ceiling, marked in seemingly random increments along the floor are the names of other cathedrals from around the world that would easily fit within the cavern of St Peters. There is only one Christian Church and the Pope is not in charge of it. If a structure were to represent all of Christendom one would have to think that that building would be in Jerusalem and not Rome. But "Then they said come let us make a city with a tower that reaches to the heavens so that we can make a name for ourselves." That plan didn't and still doesn't work. As for Socialism - https://www.prageru.com/video/was-jesus-a-socialist/ The Good Samaritan didn't wait for the government to help his neighbor, he pulled out his own wallet and paid for the care of his injured neighbor himself.

Not sure what we need this for, we already have the FBI and ATF. Remember Waco? This bill needs to have a sunset. If the assessment is garbage then we should get rid of it. In my mind, some money needs to go to the NSA for machine surveillance of public posting sites (don't they already do this?) Anyone who publicly posts a specific actionable threat of violence against a person or group should be flagged ASAP. This is against the law and should be prosecuted (Hi NSA bot!). Racial profiling is a sensitive issue and has been deemed illegal. But profiling, because we aren't stupid, is what we all do. With limited resources, I fully expect our police force to do the same. What could go wrong? - Assessments could be used against individuals in civil trials (divorce). - Police could use the assessments to harass civilians (Ruby Ridge) - Political opportunists could use assessments for political means (ex. give us your tax records) - Profiling could encourage police to neglect other groups of bad entities (ex. ignore Antifa but focus on proud boys) Looking at the recent failures of the Feds regarding Stoneman Douglas and Sutherland Springs, I think there is enough the Feds are already bad at. Adding "assessments" will probably not help and does offer harm.

Lauren Southern brought this to prominence for me. I doubt it would take more than 1 generation for them to assimilate to the US culture and I have no doubt that these entrepreneurs would be a net gain. But, if we take all of the farmers out of South Africa, South Africa will fail. It may be time though.

Slander lawsuit must show 4 points: - Statement must be false (Peterson is not Hitler and definitely not Milo) - Statement must be available/published to a third party (you can listen to the recording online) - Statements against public figures must show malice of intent (in the USA only - Canada and other commonwealth states do not enjoy this freedom and must be careful when insulting their lordly stupid politicians - in Quebec just bring a bagette and bottle of wine for compensation) - Statement must cause damage (Peterson's reputation presumably)

A sticky problem. Local governments need to provide services for their denizens with mental health issues. At the same time, they need to discourage outsiders from moving into an accommodating system. Is stigmatization a key problem for people with that level of MH?

Conversely, liking the President doesn't mean you have to agree with everything he says. Calling out a congressman because his district is poorly managed is, on it's face, inappropriate. Of course I am not immune to recognizing the pragmatic purposes of this tweet: 1. Links democrats to the poor management of cities 2. Gets free press because the MSM thinks that them talking about Trump being racist means something. 3. Calls attention to the extra judicial kangaroo court that congress is trying to ramp up now that the Mueller Burger has gone sour.

RobBlair comments on Jul 28, 2019:
How does this compare to other presidents? How many checks and balances should there be between an Executive and his staff? Are you concerned with the almost complete lack of dissent with our current president (yes I'm laughing)? So if someone has tolerated negative views or criticisms, that person is not a narcissist? Has Trump's executive branch labeled anyone in the press a "criminal Co-conspirator" or issued search warrants to journalists in order to find news leaks in the government (I would consider these as "not tolerating criticism")?

An interesting discussion. I don't believe that the Theory of Intelligent Design brings anything scientific to the table other than highlight the immense challenge/failure of natural selection to address the improbability of more advanced life from the simpler. While watching I was thinking that as our understanding of genetic mutation advances we may find simpler paths that might close the probability from 1 out of 1 trillionth trillionth up to 2 out of 1 trillionth trillionth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noj4phMT9OE
